Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does a bookkeeper do?

In general, a bookkeeper categorizes transactions, reconciles accounts, and creates financial statements. Additionally, a bookkeeper can enter data for accounts payable and receivable, and they can even assist with paying bills. It really all depends on what your business needs are.

At New Hope Bookkeeping, my fees are designed to be transparent and competitive, reflecting the quality and professionalism of my virtual freelance bookkeeping services. I offer flexible pricing structures tailored to meet the specific needs of each client, with options such as one-time clean-ups, monthly packages which are a flat rate, and retainers. This allows businesses of all sizes to access expert bookkeeping without the burden of overhead costs associated with in-house staff. By outlining my fees upfront with a proposal package, I aim to provide clarity and ensure that my clients can make informed decisions about their bookkeeping needs.

How does monthly bookkeeping work?

Monthly bookkeeping is essential for understanding a business’s financial health. It starts with collecting important documents like bank statements, invoices, and receipts. As your bookkeeper, I carefully sort and enter these transactions into accounting software, ensuring accuracy. After data entry, I check your records against bank statements to catch any errors. This step is important for precise financial reporting. At the end of the month, I create financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, giving a clear view of the business’s financial health.

When and how do I send my documents to you?

I will need your bank statements and other documents every month. I can set up your bank statements to automatically sync with QuickBooks so that you can focus on your business while I handle your bookkeeping. You can also send me your documents directly if you prefer. I use secure cloud-based software and email for document delivery.

When will I get my monthly financial reports?

I will have your financial reports delivered no later than the 15th of every month so that you can better plan for your business.

What if my books are currently behind schedule or need a clean-up?

I can help clean-up any messy transactions or inaccurate records from your past. We will discuss the details as necessary for your specific situation in our free consultation.

Do you offer tax preparation?

No, I do not offer tax preparation at this time. I simply make sure that your financial documents are ready for your tax preparer at the end of the year. Your bookkeeper and tax preparer typically work together as a team to make sure that your business records are all up to date.
